WHEREFORE, the assailed Decision of the Regional Trial Court, Br. 36, Bontoc, Mt. Province, finding accused-appellant Jerome Gallate guilty of rape in Crim. Case No. 835 and sentencing him to reclusion perpetua and to pay the offended party Lilia Gunaden P50,000.00 is AFFIRMED with the MODIFICATION that the damages of P20,000.00 awarded by the trial court should be increased to P50,000.00 consistent with existing jurisprudence and heretofore denominated as moral damages. Costs against accused-appellant. SO ORDERED.
