WHEREFORE, in view of the foregoing, the Decision dated 30 April 2001 of the Court of Appeals, Eighth Division, in CA-G.R. CV No. 38286 is AFFIRMED with MODIFICATION as follows: The award of nominal and moral damages is hereby DELETED; Petitioners are ordered to jointly and severally pay respondents P90,000.00 as temperate damages, in lieu of the award of actual and compensatory damages which is hereby DELETED; Petitioners are likewise ordered to jointly and severally pay respondents P50,000.00 as exemplary damages. Costs against petitioners. SO ORDERED.
