WHEREFORE , the decision of the trial court finding Defendant-Appellant EDISON MIRA guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of rape is AFFIRMED with the MODIFICATION that the death sentence imposed by the trial court is hereby REDUCED to Reclusion Perpetua . Additionally, Defendant-Appellant shall pay the victim P50,000.00 as civil indemnity, P50,000.00 as moral damages, and P20,000.
