Ruling

WHEREFORE, the accused Leonardo Nuguid y Mayao, is hereby convicted of the crime of serious illegal detention with rape under Article 267 of the Penal Code and sentenced to suffer the severe penalty of death by lethal injection and accessory penalties provided by law and to pay the costs. On the civil liability of the accused, he is also sentenced to pay the complainant, Rowena Rianzares y Miranda, moral and nominal damages in the respective sums of P100,000.00 and P50,000.00, with interest thereon at the legal rate of 6% per annum from this date until fully paid. SO ORDERED.
