WHEREAS, on October 21, 2008, the City Council enacted Ordinance No. 159, Series
of 2008 which provided fbr the amendment of Sections 57 and 62 of the 2006 T'raffic
Management Code of Marikina City;
WHEREAS. Section 57 provides fbr the "Designation of Parking Zones" while Section
62 provides fbr the "Oventight Parking";
WHEREAS, the amendment contained in Ordinance No. 159 Series of 2008 is for any
medication in the designation of parking and overnight parking zones be subjected to the
approval of the City Council by virtue of an Ordinance;
WHEREAS, however, the Office of Public Safety and Security has been continuously
studying and monitoring the traffic flow in the City to provide ease and comfort to the
constituents commuting to and fi'om work; ,

WHEREAS, the original ordinance provides that the Head of the CTMDO (now OPSS),
in coordination with concerned barangays and/or other offices/agencies of the City
Government, is authorized to expand, reduce, amend or modify from time to time the list
as he sees fit, subject to the approval of the City Mayor;
WHEREAS, Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160 otherwise known as the Local
Government Code of l99l provides that:

therefrom, as well qs powers necessary, appropriate' or incidenlal./br its
fficient and e.ffective governance, and those which are essential lo the
promofion of the general welfare. Within their respective territorial

other lhings, the preservalion and enrichment of culture, promote health
andsafety,xxx"
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AS IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY
THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD of MARIKINA, in session duly assembled,
that:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 159, Series of 2008 entitled, "Ordinance Amending
Sections 57 and 62 ofOrdinance No. 133, Series of 2006 entitled Ordinance Adopting the
2006 Traffic Management Code of Marikina City" is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Effectivily - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
