WHEREAS, majority of the elderly of Marikina do not have monetary income or receive a
meager retirement pension which is not enough to cover expenses for personal and medical
sustenance;
WHEREAS, families of senior citizens are financially burdened as well, coping with the
demands of daily living and are doubly troubled when providing caregiving to an elderly
member of the family;
WHEREAS, to alleviate the financial woes of the families bereaved by the death of their
death-related
beloved elderly, and help defray s, it will only be appropriate and
justified that the senior citizens grreving farnily be granted financial / burial assistance.
NOW TIIEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, AS IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED, by the CITY
COUNCIL of MARIKINA, in session duly assembled that:
SECTION l. The City Government of Marikina hereby grants the amount of Two
Thousand Pesos (P2,000.00) as financial / burial assistance to the immediate family of a
registered senior citizpn of Marikina
SECTION 2. For the family to be entitled to the financial assistance, the deceased senior
citizen must be:
(a) registered with the Office of Senior Citizens Atrairs (OSCA) of Marikina and
possess€s a valid OSCA identification card.
(b) a bonafide resident of Marikina for at least one (1) year, or a registered voter of
Marikina City.
SECTION 3. The following doctrments shall be presented by the claimant farnily member
to the OSCA to be entitled to the financial / burial assistance:

(b) A photocopy of the OSCA I.D. of the deceased senior citizen duly certified by
the Local Civil Registry Office of Marikina. (The original OSCA I.D. shall be
surrendered to the Local Civil Registy OfiEce of Marikina).
(c) A certification from the barangay certifring that the deceased is a bonafide
resident of the barangay, or a certification from the COMELEC attesting that
the deceased is a registered voter of Marikina City.
(d) Certified copy of the birth/mariage certificate of the recipient-beneficiary to
establish relationship with the senior citizen.
SECTION 4. The funds necessary to cover the financial / burial assistance shall be charged
against the yearly appropriation of the Offrce of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) of
Marikina.
SECTION 5. The Offrce of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) of Marikina shall formulate the
necessary Rules & Regulations (IRRs) for the effective implementation of this Ordinance.
SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
