WHEI{EAS, the City Council of Marikina enacted Ordioanoe No. 213, Series of 1998. otherwise
known a6 the Anti-Linering Code of Marikifla;
WHERLAS, the said Code has been subsequently amended by Ordinanoe No. 76, Series of 1999,
providing fof an increase in peflalty fgr littering as well as designating and deputizing offlcers in
lhe local govenment with specifia task in the implementation ofthe anti-littering law;

SECTION This ordinance shall hereaftei be called "The Anti-Litterifls Code of
\fariliru 2002
SECTION 2. It shal1 be unlaFfrrl for ,!ny person to tkow sfirall litter materials on streets,
sidtwall(s or other public plac€s, inchding govemmet buildings and off1ces arld public utility
vehicles within the City of Marikina.
SECfiON 3. Definition ofTenns:
a. "Small littBr materials" shall includ€, but not limited to cigarett€ butts.
cigrettg packs, candy/food Rrappers, oartodpaper/plaslic bags, maBticated
chewing gum, fruit seeds and r€mains, anong othels.
SECTION 4, Any individual caught liltoring in violation of Section 2 hereof shall pay a fine of
Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) upon is6uanoe ofthe pertinent Sanitalion Citatior Ticket.
If after seventy-two (72) hotus film his receipt oi the Cltation Ticket the violator fails to appear
or rcfuses to pay the oorrsponding hne, the City Mayor shall direct the City L€gal Offcel to
initiate within lwerty-four (24) houls prosecution proce€dingr against tlle violalor with the City
Fiscal Office. n
