ORDINANCE GRANTING AMNESTY ON INTERESTS OF DELINQUENT
REAL PROPERTY TAXPAYERS IN TIIE CITY OF MARIKINA

WHEREAS, there are a number of Marikina taxpayers who still failed to pay their real
property taxes despite several amnesties and tax discounts given in the pasi years;
WHEREA9] the grant of tax amnesty is adopted to boost the City Govemment,s t&x
collection effons and as a reliefto taxpayers who are experiencing financial difficulties;
WHEREAS, this power to grant arnnesty is provided in Section 192 of rhe Local
Govemment Code of 1991 which states that:
"\xxLocal goternment units may through ordinances duly opproled,
grant tat exemptions, incentires or reliefs under such terms and
cohditions as may deem kecessary xxx',
WHEREAS, the City Govemment of Marikina is cognizant of the economic downtum
especially in the third quaner of 2018 when Marikina City was consecutively hit by
calarnities, thus this Ordinance aims to support the familieswho are gravely affected;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, AS IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY

delinquent taxpayers a 100% relief or amnesty on the interests of unpaid real propeny
taxes in Marikina City.
SECTION 2. txclzsion to lhe AntnesE - Excluded from the anrnesty are real properties
ofdelinquent taxpayers with pending crirninal cases in court for ta,\ delinquencJ.
SECTION 3. Period of Availment - The grant of amnesty to the interests of delinquent
real propeny taxpayers stans upon approval ofthis ordinance and ends on December 31,
2019, affer which lhe City shall enfbrce the colleclion of delinquent taxes simultaneous
through administrative andjudicial actions pursuant to Sections 256 and 258 ofthe Local
Govenrment Coder
SECTION 1. Mode of Pdyrnent The total amount of real property delinquencies may
be paid in full or in a staggered basis within the presc bed annesty period. Interests
shall automatically be imposed on the unpaid delinquent real property taxes in the case
