..ORDINANCE PROHIBITNG THE BURNING OF GARBAGE, TRASH OR ANY

WHEREAS, on Malah 17, 1999 the City council of Marikina enaat€d ordinanc€ No. 57,
S€des of 1999 which prohibits the buming ofgarbage, trash or any other refuse materials
in streets, sidewalks and other public places in Marikina City;
WHERIAS, however, it was observed that some city residcntr are buming their garbage
and other domestic refuse within their prilate yards or on vacart private lots;
WHEREAS, the smoke and stench emitted by this garbage buming are causing air
plldion and serve as nuisarcs to the affected neighborhood;
WHEREAS, this buming activity likewise posas threat to public health and poses as a
danger that coutd tdgger a big fire as glowing embers therefrom can be windblown to
aly nearby flammable materials;
WHEREAS, to enswe public safety and for the protection of the envircnment, the
buming of garbage in priyate yards and /or private lots should be prohibited
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the CITY COUNCIL of MARIKINA, in
session duly assembled" that:
SECTION 1. The title of Ordinance No. 59, Series of 1999 is hereby amended to read as
followsr
"ORDiNANCE PROHIBITINC TTIE BURNING OF GARBAGE, TRASH OR

SECTION 2. Section I ofthe sama Ordinance is likewise amended to read as follows:
